browser concept: enhanced tabs

the perennial problem on the web
is how to find our way back to a place we've been
the solution may be
maps of where we've been
but, how to construct them
my observation: a collection of tabs is almost the most helpful map of the web i encounter anywhere, and it forms on its own
the problem:
open pages in tabs seem to use a lot of system resources
the solution:
open pages in tabs that use almost no system resources
(and that survive system restarts, etc.)
so that dozens, even hundreds, can be kept open for days, weeks, months, even years
